Shark Tank Dives & Messaging
Volunteer divers at The Maritime Aquarium have the opportunity to dive in 2nd largest exhibit. They
assist the Husbandry Staff by cleaning the exhibits and basic maintenance. Volunteer Divers
also have the opportunity to promote the Aquarium’s mission and conservation efforts through an
interactive in water presentation in our shark tank! Dive Volunteer applications are accepted year round
and evaluations of prospective divers will occur as the need arises. Diver selection is based on meeting
the prerequisites and the ability to successfully pass an in water assessment.
Shark Dive Presentations occur Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 12:15 & 2:15. On occasion, additional dives may be added to the schedule for holidays and anticipated high volume days. During December additional Santa dives are added to the schedule.
Shark Presentations in the Open Ocean follow a question and answer style format and address topics including the species of sharks at the aquarium, how to tell them apart, their diet, adaptations like their teeth, gills, and electro-sensors, and conservation concerns.
